Item Description
A striking, very rich two-sided mass of fantastic dense herringbone-patterned spinel-twinned silver crystals with a nice patina is aesthetically set on the sculptural matrix. The piece has a definite biomorphic look to it with the head and neck at one end. This excellent and uncommon specimen is from this historic old silver and more recent Soviet-era uranium mining district. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 6461 and acquired from the private collection of Scott Williams in 1961. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Silver specimens of this richness and quality are seldom on the market from this shaft.
