Item Description

Most of the Fluorites I've seen from this locality are along the yellow to green end of the spectrum, but this one has some lovely reddish accenting hues as well. The crystals are cubic in habit, and even though they are intergrown, individual cubes are easy to discern. The largest crystal measures 2.3 cm on edge, and some of them show excellent "phantom" zoning with a semi-layered growth. Very little damage, and a GREAT addition to a Fluorite suite, or specifically a suite of German Fluorites. The label states that the piece is associated with Barite, but I'm not really seeing it, unless the reddish inclusions are Barite(?)> Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#5880). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
