Item Description

Moroccan Vanadinites simply are the finest examples of the species extant. The best pieces still command a premium on the market, even though specimens are still being found to this day. This piece features fine quality, rich red color, sharp, lustrous, thick hexagonal crystals of Vanadinite free of matrix. The largest crystal measures 1.7 cm. Great quality all around and the piece is nearly a complete "floater" as it's nearly crystallized all the way aroud! BETTER IN PERSON. This piece was probably mined a few decades ago, and was more than likely considered to be a stellar example of the species, though many more like it have been found. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#13070). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
