Item Description

A sculptural large diverging cluster of three light sharply terminated pseudomorphs of stibiconite after well-striated stibnite crystals. All three terminations are pristine. Two of the terminations are sharp chisels with large third one being oddly deformed, adding pizzazz. Complete all-around and nearly pristine. A bruise on a side of the large prism is noted, but is mostly out-of-sight in the preferred display views. Stibiconite after stibnite specimens from the historic old silver mines at Catorce are a classic and desirable Mexico species. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 4242 and acquired from California dealer Roy Plummer in 1965. Kay's label is incorrect. This striking pseudos are from Catorce. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record).
