Item Description

A beautiful classic specimen of the hard to find and eye-catching Chalcopyrites from the Friedrich-Wilhelm Mine. This specimen feautres brilliant, metallic, semi-iridescent, brass colored crystals of Chalcopyrite measuring up to 8 mm scattered on the underlying Quartz matrix. The iridescence shows itself in the form of warm golden, pink and oranges tones. There are numerous faces and edges visible on the Chalcopyrites and they are not a thick intergrown mass, but actually have some separation in areas, which gives the piece relief and contrast. Some contacts are present, so it's not damage free, but several areas are pristine. Old material, and very hard to find on the market. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017).
