Item Description

This piece came labeled as only coming from Madagascar, but it could be from the Anjahamiary Pegmatite, as I've seen a photo of similar crystals from this locality. A sharp, lustrous, gemmy pair of blue prisms of Indicolite Tourmaline. The larger of the two crytals is terminated (the smaller one is contacted) and shows a rich "inky" blue cap which grades into a lovely medium blue hue, and actually shows a bit of a purlish-pink near the core at the base. The piece has a few little nicks, but it's a good reference specimen to add to a gem crystal collection or a Tourmaline suite. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#12620). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017).
