Gem Crocoite (Type Locality) w/ Pyromorphite ex Robertson Coll.

Item Description

A cute complexly terminated, gem, orange-red crocoite thumbnail from the famous Type Locality. The bit of matrix hosts green pyromorphite, rare from here and a rare accessory with crocoite. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 7265 and acquired from Ron Bentley in March, 1974. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). Probably from the Imperial Russia era, prior to World War I, but no proof. A rare and excellent thumbnail combination.
