A fantastic large elongated stibnite from the famous Herja Mine. Intergrown radial "hedgehog" sprays of brilliant dark metallic-gray laths form a most dramatic and sculptural specimen. Specimens of this very high quality came out in the 1990s and rival those from the nearby Baia Sprie and Baiut mines. No new finds have come out in about 20 years and this noted locale closed in 2006. Maramures County stibnites are certainly world-class and this is a outstanding and remarkably large example from the Paul Zerfass Collection # 576. Valued at $1500-1750.
