Item Description

Mineral specimens from this old, less well-known Butte mine are rare and are seldom on the market. The Alice Mine started in 1876 and was also one of the largest silver mines in the area. This rich and showy 360-degree mounded combination is covered with lustrous, pastel-pink rhodochrosite rhombs to 7 mm on the diagonal. Striking and beautiful accents are patches of sparkly drusy quartz on the top and the amazingly beautiful and RARE corsage of pretty pink rose quartz crystals on one side. Undoubtedly old-time material, but no proof. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 8981 and acquired from the Lidstrom's in 1980 at Tucson. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). An outstanding and VERY RARE rhodo and rose quartz combo from here. A MUST for the Butte or species collector!
