Item Description

A rarely seen matrix crystal of hexagaonl Apatite from the lesser known Grace Lake roadcut in Ontario, Canada. This pyroxene skarn locality is not known for its Apatite specimens, and this is honestly one of only two examples of the material that I've seen from this locale. The crystal is euhedral and translucent with a medium blue-green hue and a somewhat waxy external luster. Complete all around and a great pickup for anybody who collects odd locality specimen, Canadian minerals or phosphates. The piece comes with a label from Frank and Wendy Melanson that says the cyrstal has been reinforced in the matrix, and that it was collected July 1985. It was formerly in the collection of Joan and Gelnn Petrie of Clark Mills, New York.
