Zincite (recrystallized) (ex Richard Kosnar and Pat Gross Collections)

Item Description

Although Zincite is found in various worldwide localities, it has been found in recrystallized form (typically from smelters). This piece features micro, well-formed, sharp, lustrous, gemmy, reddish-orange crystals of Zincite free of matrix. The piece is labeled as coming from Friedensville, PA, a zinc locality, though Zincite has never been reported as far as I can tell. The piece came to Rich Kosnar from his mentor, noted New Jersey collector Frances Patricia "Pat" Gross, and her original mounting box accompanies the piece with a label that states it was collected in 1963. A cool specimen of this classic material.
