Item Description

The famous Prospect Park Quarry is one of the most impressive (and under appreciated) Zeolite localities in the world. Sadly, this great New Jersey locality is being filled in for a housing development (like so many of the great Trap Rock localities in this area), and pieces like this one will be never be collected again. This piece came out in 2003, and is fairly attractive for the locality. Natrolite is one of the less common species found at Prospect Park, and good quality specimens are even less common. This particular specimen consists of thin prisms of Natrolite which have formed in radial "spray", and may be tranisitioning into another species such as Mesolite or Scolecite. For all intents and purposes this is a relatively rare Zeolite specimen from New Jersey.
