Item Description

One of the best pieces from a single pocket found in April 2005 in Bolivia. There were only a few good specimens from this discovery, and if you collect carbonates or Bolivian minerals, don't miss out on this one. The piece features sharp, very well-formed, beautiful greenish-gold colored rhombs of Siderite with notably lighter tan colored clay inclusions aesthetically intergrown with minor Tetrahedrite and sugary grey Quartz. The largest Siderite rhomb at the top of the specimen measures 4.6 cm across. Additional smaller "disc"-shaped compressed Siderite crystals can be seen on the back piece as well. The main Siderite is undamaged, though it does have an imperfect growth on one edge, but it's not damage. The crystals look beautiful when backlit, and are so elegantly intergrown to create an aesthetic overall specimen. Excellent quality, very showy and HARD TO FIND from Machacamarca. This piece was valued at $950 in the inventory for good reason. Nearly every other piece in the pocket either had damage or wasn't very aesthetic. I only know of a few others that I think are equal to this piece in terms of quality. I don't have another specimen of this material to offer, so if you want this piece, don't let it slip away in the hopes that another will come along, as it's nearly impossible these specific specimens will be found again.
