Item Description

A classic specimen of the desirable Cuprites from the Ray Mine This piece is features many very sharp, rather lustrous, well-formed, cubic (with some slight octahedral faces) crystals of Cuprite on matrix that show incredible deep red color when backlit! The crystals measure around 2 mm and show great color and gemminess. Very little damage overall, and there are even some good Cuprites on the back of the piece as well. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#486). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record).
