Item Description

A really unusual old time Epidote specimen from Mineral County, Nevada (no mine given). The piece is hosts dozens of sharp, prismatic, rich green colored, lustrous Epidotes measuring up to 1.2 cm. I've never actually seen a piece of this material with this particular style, as most crystals are loose singles, and not an intergrown group on martrix like this. The piece came with a simple scrap of paper with a handwritten note that said "Epidote, Mineral Co., Nevada". Unfortunately the paper was so old and decomposed, that it literally fell apart in my hands. The piece easily dates back 60-70 years. A cool western US specimen that would make a great addition to any collection. This specimen comes from the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904-1998) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a prominent figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936. You can read Willard's bio on the Mineralogical Record website here ( http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1528 ).
