Item Description

Mined by Gregoire De Bodinat at the well-known Mesage Mine, this piece was purchased at the Sainte Marie aux Mines Show in 2016. A handful very sharp, lustrous and incredily well-formed, soft golden color (with a gorgeous iridescent metallic patina) crystals of Pyrite with pyritohedral habits measuring up to 7 mm associated with and sitting atop classic greenish-tan rhombic Siderite with prismatic colorless Quartz crystals. This is an active mine, but dates back nearly 200 years. It has produced some absolutely amazing green Siderite specimens, which are some of the finest known examples from Isere, or ANY European locality for that matter. Good crystallized Pyrite are few and far between, and this piece is nearly damage free and would make a superb addition to any sulfide suite or a collection of European minerals. Great quality for the material, and BETTER in person than the photos might indiciate.
