Item Description

One of the classic Quartz-lined geodes from Las Choyas, Mexico featuring crystallized purple Amethyst with beautifully banded blue Agate around the periphery. The piece is polished showing colors ranging from a soft silvery-blue to nearly white around the exterior edges with rich purple in the center. Additionally a 2.3 cm chocolate colored group of Calcite can be seen in the center of the piece as well. This geode comes from the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904-1998) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a prominent figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936. You can read Willard's bio on the Mineralogical Record website here ( http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1528 ).
