Item Description

The mines of Creede are some of the most classic of all the Colorado ore body localities. They are renowned for their superb sulfide specimens. For a brief time, some excellent quality Amethyst specimens were found in the Bachelor Mine, and disappeared as quickly as they were found. This piece features hundreds of lovely purple colored Amethyst crystals on a thin plate of matrix. The largest crystal measures 8 mm. This is a good display from this classic southwestern Colorado locality. These specimens are impossible to obtain these days, and are regarded among Colorado collectors as some of the best from the state. This piece came to Rich Kosnar from noted Colorado collector, George Robertson and later became part of Brian Kosnar's collection after Rich died. Valued at $500.
