Item Description

Despite the fact that this province is incredibly well-known for its pegmatite minerals (Tourmaline, Spodumene, etc.), these specimens are actually from a metamorphic skarn deposit. These are some of the lesser known Epidotes from this area, as most people associate Epidote with Pakistan. This piece hosts a predominant, 1.1 cm sharp, lustrous, green, gemmy, well-formed compressed prismatic crystal of Epidote with smaller Epidotes and many sharp, dodecahedral brownish Andradite plus greenish-black Clinochlore groups on matrix. Minor roughness on the edges, but still very good quality all around. An attractive small cabinet specimen from this interesting occurrence in Afghanistan. Priced at $500,
