Item Description

A rarely seen matrix specimen of Chondrodite from the gem tracts around Mogok. Originally, this piece came to us labeled as norbergite (from Oakssaung Hill), but further analysis has shown that these pieces are Chondrodite (possibly Clinohumite). With that said, they are some of the best matrix specimens of gemmy Chondrodite that I have seen from any locality in Burma. This piece features a translucent crystal of Chondrodite associated with a tiny pink Spinel on massive grey/white Calcite matrix. A small unidentified brown mineral is seen as well. The Chrondrodite crystal has good overall form, with a waxy luster and beautiful yellow-orange color.
