Simply put, some of the most classic Magnetites from North America are those from Balmat, New York. These are some of the most distinctive and eye-catching Magnetite specimens in the world due to their cubic habit. This piece features rarely seen cubic crystals (with very slight tetrahexahedral modifications). I'm told that these specimens were mined in the early 1990s, and are not common on the market today. The crystal is large and sharp for the species, with decent luster. It's crystallized nearly on every side, save one corner where it's contacted.
