Item Description

A beautiful miniature sized old time specimen from an unknown mine Germany. The label simply says it's from the "Rhine Province, Germany". I think it's most likely from the Dreislar Mine or possibly the Georg Mine. This piece features a very sharp, lustrous and gemmy, single colorless hexagonal pyramdial crystal of Quartz which plays hosts to sharp and well-formed soft pinkish-white color Dolomite rhombs with accenting crystals of Chalcopyrite. This specimen comes from the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904-1998) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a prominent figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936. You can read Willard's bio on the Mineralogical Record website here ( http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1528 ). The piece comes with a typed 3x5 index card label from Wulff that states the piece was part of the personal collection of Lazard Cahn, who was also one of the founding members of the CSMS. A wonderfully historic and eye-catching specimen of this well known old time material.
