Item Description

A rarely seen specimen of sparkling purple Amethyst on matrix from the unlikely locality at the Mammoth-Saint Anthony Mine in Tiger, AZ. Hundreds of small, sharp, lustrous, translucent, beautiful purple color hexagonal crystals nearly cover the entire display side of the specimen. This specimen comes from the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904-1998) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a prominent figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936. You can read Willard's bio on the Mineralogical Record website here ( http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1528 ). The label on the base of the specimen states that the piece was collected by Wulff's daughter, Wanda Ellsworth on February 15 of 1988.
