Item Description

Fluorites from the Sunnyside Mine are highly sought after classics from Colorado. There are basically two types of Fluorites that came out of this mine that are of interest to collectors. The first being green octahedrons (or modified octahedrons) sometimes associated with pink Rhodochrosite, and the second being the larger green cubes. This piece is the latter featuring sharp, well-formed, gemmy / translucent, green colored cubic crystals measuring up to 3.7 cm on edge free of matrix. The crystals have somewhat of a silvery tone to them in areas. Good quality for the most part, and only a little damage. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#2656). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). A wonderful display piece from this famous mine in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado.
