Calcite on Chalcedony (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

Item Description

Please note, this specimen came labeled as coming from the Flux Mine, although neither Calcite nor Chalcedony have been reported from this mine, so it's most likely mislabeled. The piece features very sharp, compressed, tabular white Calcites measuring up to 6 mm which are sprinkled over stalactitic Chalcedony which have formed a pseudomorph after Geothite. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#1269). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record).
