Item Description

This is a good representative specimen from one of the most storied and well known districts in Colorado. The pegmatites near the Lake George area of Colorado have produced what most collectors and dealers consider to be the finest Amazonite specimens from the standpoint of superb color, top quality, wonderful display specimens and excellent associations. This particular specimen features a sharp, well-formed, rich blue-green color penetration twin crystal of Fluorite associated with very pale blue-green Amazonite crystals and a secondary beige feldspar species. The Fluorite measures 3.0 cm on it longest dimension, and even though one corner is contacted, these specimens are RARE from Colorado, especially with the good blue-green color! Keep in mind that the best of these specimens (especially with top color) sell for big money these days, and considering that fewer and fewer top quality specimens are found each year, this one would make a great addition to any collection. A nice Colorado "classic"! Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#2282). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). A great combo specimen of this beloved material from Colorado.
