Item Description

A classic and attractive specimen of light pink Rhodonite from the world famous Sterling Hill Mine. The specimen hosts massive Rhodonite on all sides, but if you look closely there are dozens if not hundreds of tiny Willemite crystals that are almost impossible to see with the naked eye. When the piece is held under SW UV light, the Willemites glow with that classic bright green hue! Additionally small bands of Calcite (bright orange fluorescence under SW UV light) can be see, and the dark brownish areas on the specimen are various Manganese Oxides. The color is good, and the associations are classic for the material. The Franklin / Sterling Hill mining area is one of the most prolific sources of minerals in the world in terms of number of species, and pieces are becoming very difficult to find on the market these days.
