Item Description

A single, DOUBLY-TERMINATED, thick, striated prism of light yellow and pinkish-purple, gemmy, lustrous, Spodumene from this well-known deposit in Afghanistan. The piece displays wonderfully, and is notably gemmy inside. The piece is nearly a complete "floater", were it not for an imperfection along the side. HARD TO PHOTOGRAPH and better in person. Good gem crystals of Spodumene (particularly Kunzite) are only found in three places in the world with any frequency: Afghanistan, Brazil and San Diego County, California. Very little if anything comes out of California these days and the Brazilian material is on the decline in terms of production, so the only place where one can buy good gem Spodumenes these days is Afghanistan. A lovely, gem quality "sword"-shaped crystal of this classic material. Weight is 260 grams (1,300 carats). Priced in the inventory at $1600.
