Item Description

Corocoro is world-famous for producing the unique Copper pseudomorphs after Aragonite, but it's not common to find non-pseudomorphic, crystalline Copper from this locality. This piece is a very showy and eye-catching, three-dimensional "leaf"-like group of Copper that almost reminds me of some kind of organic growth, like coral or some kind of aquatic plant life. For all the material that I've seen from this locality, these interesting Coppers are the first of their kind that I know of. This particular piece was mined in 2011, and really stands out as a special piece from this well-known locality. The piece is not only very displayable, but has a rich classic patina with a beautiful mint green Malachite association to creat a beautiful contrast. For reference, we were told that Corocoro was purchased by a Korean mining company with the intention of melting down all the Copper, so there may never been good specimens again. If you collect Copper or native elements, don't miss out on this one, as I doubt you have one in your collection.
