Item Description

The Ojuela Mine is famous for its amazing secondary ore minerals, but it also produced some impressive Fluorites back in the day. This 2-piece set of thumbnails are stellar examples of Ojuela Fluorites as they feature sharp, well-formed, WATER CLEAR crystals which are mostly colorless, but feature interesting purple zoning and that is almost completely isolated to single outer faces, while the rest of the crystal is virtually without any color at all. This out layer of purple could be referred to as a purple "haze". The larger specimen features a few crystals measuring up to 1.2 cm on Limonite, while the smaller specimen is nearly a single crystal with only a tiny bit of Limonite on the base. Both Fluorites are predominantly cubic in habit with beautiful octahedral and dodecahedral modifications. If you collect thumbnails, Fluorites or Mexican minerals, don't miss out on this set as they haven't been available on the market for decades. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#10593 and #10594). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
