Item Description

A really cool specimen of these fairly new "Grape Agate" or "Grape Chalcedony" specimens from Indonesia. These pieces truly look like grapes due to their purple color and spherical shape of the aggregates. It seems that a lot of this material has dried up very quickly, and little is available on the market. The first specimens to come out had great color (like this piece), and then more recently a lot of stuff seems to be fairly dull. Many of the pieces had poor luster as well, but this piece has a beautiful purple hue throughout, and it's not muted or dull. This small cabinet specimen is filled with semi-spherical, translucent, semi-resinous "balls" or spheroids measuring up to 6 mm free of matrix. This piece is nearly what I would call a complete "floater" as it's almost crystallized 100% of the way around. Superb condition overall, and this is a great chance to own a piece of this strange and gorgeous material.
