Item Description

This is one of the older specimens from the Wutong Mine in China. They were found before the large rhombs hit the market, but they are still incredibly pretty. They are not your typical gemmy red crystals like those from the famous Sweet Home Mine, but they do resemble Rhodos from other localities. If you've ever seen the "rosettes" from the Eagle Mine in Colorad, these are very similar in my mind. This small cabinet display specimen features attractive, sharp, compressed rhombohedra of pink Rhodochrosite forming attractive "rosettes" on prismatic Quartz crystals sitting on Pyrite and Sphalerite matrix. I love how the Rhodos envelop one side of the Quartz crystals, while the other side is exposed. Very good quality all around, and very little damage. Priced at $1,200 in the inventory. From the worldwide Rhodochrosite collection of Dr. William S. Logan (Specimen #X37-8) with a label from a previous dealer.
