Item Description

Aquamarine is found in many worldwide localities but the pieces from the classic Pingwu Mine are not only iconic, but truly eye-catching and unique. These pieces started coming out around 20 years ago, but they are still in high demand from collectors due to their interesting morphology. The combination of their unique tabular habit and superior quality is what truly makes them so desirable and special. This very aesthetic small cabinet specimen plays host to a group of rather gemmy, very sharp, highly lustrous, gemmy, pale icy blue colored, unusually tabular hexagonal crystals of Aquamarine with the largest individual crystal measuring 2.5 cm across sitting wonderfully on very lustrous, porcelain-esque, blocky white Microcline crystal matrix. The Aqua group features several crystals in a three-dimensional formation, and it's virtually damage free to boot! I can see on a contact on the lower / underside of the group, but I can't find any damage of note on the main part of the crystals. These days, it can be difficult to obtain good quality display specimen with free-standing crystals like this from Pingwu. A really attractive specimen of this wonderful material from this one-of-a-kind locality in China. Valued at $1,250 in the inventory.
