Item Description

While this locality is probably best known for its phosphate species, the Siglo XX Mine can produce some very attractive Pyrite specimens from time to time. This is a very good quality display specimen for the locality as it features a predominant razor sharp, VERY lustrous, brilliant, metallic, soft golden colored cuboctahedral crystal of Pyrite measuring 3.2 cm associated with smaller Pyrites of equal quality on a bit of rock matrix. I really love the fact that the Pyrites have such distinctive and broad, smooth faces. The specimen is in excellent shape, with only a few nicks here and there, and it's not complete on the back where it was removed from the pocket wall. This is honestly one of the best Pyrites from this locality that I have offered in the auctions in some time. HARD TO PHOTOGRAPH and BETTER IN PERSON! Don't pass this one up as these are rarely offered on the market, and it's a great specimen to add to a suite of sulfides, a Pyrite collection or a collection of Bolivian minerals. The majority of Pyrites from the Siglo XX mine have such terrible damage that they wouldn't even be worth the cost of shipping to bring them back to the States.
