Item Description

Pyrite crystals from the various mines in Butte, Montana are renowned for their individual beauty and wonderful associations. This small cabinet display specimen features many sharp, bright, brass-yellow Pyrite pyritohedrons with well-defined striations measuring up to 8 mm sitting atop a matrix of crystallized white prismatic Quartz. Both the front and back of the specimen are crystallized, and despite a bit of roughness to some Pyrite crystals, the piece is in pretty good shape overall. A old-time classic from Butte that comes to us from the collection of noted Idaho Geary Murdock. Among other accomplishments, Geary was responsible for discovering some of the finest gem grade deep blue Aquamarine crystals in the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho - which remain arguably the finest Aquamarines from any North American locality. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/36634006/geary-jack-murdock
