Item Description

The Spessartine Garnets from Tongbei are some of the best examples of the species from any locality in the last 20+ years. It's easy to see why as they show a great combination of brilliant luster, bright color, excellent gemminess and wonderful crystallization. Pieces like this one are iconic from this locality as it features dozens of sparkling, gemmy, lustrous brilliant orange color trapezohedra sitting on a prismatic, well-formed, hexagonal, sharp, Smoky Quartz crystal group. The largest Spessartine is about 3 mm across, but they are beautiful to view up close. I really love the fact that the Spessartines are lustrous and smooth - not at all pitted or dull like many Spessartines from various world localities. It wasn't long ago that we saw many of these Spessartines on the market, and now few of them seem to be available so if you want an attractive display specimen of these well-known Garnets, don't miss out on this one.
