Item Description

Domincian Amber is some of the best quality material in the world, and a lot of pieces have the added benefit of featuring superb insects "fossils" preserved inside. Here we have a great large thumbnail specimen of the material that is packed with many insects (most likely a species of ant) which are suspended completely within. Everybody knows about this kind of material from films like Jurassic Park, and although some would consider this to be more of a fossil than a mineral, you can't deny how cool it is! In my experience, one rarely find more than a single insect preserved in Amber like this, and to find so many of them in a piece this size is very rare. We've done our best to illustrate the quality in the photos, but it's still best seen in person. For comparison I have seen similar pieces being offered online for nearly $1000 ( http://www.ecrater.com/p/12752434/swarm-of-ant-insect-fossil-inclusions-in?gps=1&id=102398745379 ).
