Item Description

From the type locality for the species, here is a wonderful thumbnail sized specimen of Azurite. Often, one will see dull, powder blue Azurites from Chessy on the market, but THIS piece has beautiful blades, deep midnight blue crystals with sharp, lustrous faces. You just don't see too many Chessy Azurites with smooth well-formed faces like this. The crystals remind me of Azurite from Tsumeb or Touissit in terms of quality. The piece is in excellent shape with only one small nick on the secondary crystal that I can see with the naked eye. It's obviously contacted on the base where it was removed from the pocket, but it sits on its own without a base or clay and looks fantastic. It is certainly rare to locate good quality Azurites specimens from Chessy these days. A wonderful thumbnail specimen for any collector of Azurites or European classics. Priced at $700 for the quality, and the fact that it's from the first ever known locality for the species. Azurite was actually called "Chessylite" for years because the species was synonymous with the locality.
