Item Description

Phosphophyllites is one of the great combinations of rarity and beauty in the mineral world. It has been for decades arguably the most highly sought after species out there. For years, people have referred to Phosphophyllite as the "Holy Grail" of mineral species. You cannot deny the gorgeous blue-green color of the material, combined with its immense unavailability on the market. Here we have a hard to find matrix piece featuring 3.1 cm section of incredibly beautiful blue green color cleaved crystals with dark reddish-black Sphalerite in host rock matrix. Even though the Phosphophyllite section on this specimen is contacted, it should be noted that specimens of Phosphophyllite are still virtually impossible to find on the market. This piece is a reference specimen, but if you've ever wanted to own a piece of this classic material from the premier locality for the species, this is a good opportunity to pick one up, but please note it is not a top shelf collector specimen.
