Item Description

Without question, Les Farges is one of the premier localities in the world for Pyromorphite specimens. This locality has produced some of the strongest green crystals of the species ever seen, and they are not only classics from France, but are world-famous and highly sought after by collectors. This piece is a rather unusual Pyromorphite for the locality as it features tightly intergrown, semi-radial groups with a sparkling / druzy directional luster. Most of the Pyromorphite groups are undamaged, but there are a few contacts on the piece. The important aspect of the specimen is the odd habit of the crystals, as they typically are observed in slender, hexagonal prisms. A great piece for anybody who likes Pyromorphite, minerals of France or unusual morphology of well-known species. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#9620). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
