Item Description

People are very familiar with the great specimens of this calcium iron phosphate from the Zheleznyi Rog locality in Russia, but the pieces from the Kerch Peninsula in Crimea are just as famous and attractive. This mineral gets its name from the town of Anapa on the north east coast of the Black Sea in Russia. Anapaite has been known for over a century, and the Russian specimens are still the finest representations known. This toenail sized specimen hosts a 1.3 cm group of layered gemmy beautiful blue-green Anapaite sitting on matrix. The right side of the Anapaite group is contacted, but the left side is in great condition.
