Calcite is obviously abundant around the world, but there are still a few world localities that stand out for their impressive specimens. The pieces from the Sokolovskoe Mine are some of the most beautiful and fine quality examples found in the last 25 years. This miniature specimen features a good sized, gorgeous, satiny, WATER CLEAR, golden-yellow color twinned rhombohedral group of Calcite sitting on a tiny bit of matrix. The piece is undamaged on the top / display side, save one tiny spot that I can see on the top back edge. The only imperfection is a separation mark on the base where it detached from the pocket wall. The Calcite is completely transparent and it is highlighted by the beautiful small modifying faces along the edges of the crystal. Valued at $750.
