Item Description

Weardale Fluorites are world famous for their superb quality, color and form. Here we have a wonderful older specimen from Weardale which hosts sharp, well-formed, gemmy cubes of Fluorite measuring up to 3.1 cm sitting on thin layer of matrix. The crystals show an attractive pinkish-purple hue, and fluoresce nicely under UV light. The color is certainly unusual, as this particular shade is hard to describe, not quite fuchsia or lavender, you just have to see it in person to truly appreciate it. The largest crystal measures 3.1 cm on edge. This piece is in good condition, and despite some rough spots, most of the crystals are pretty good shape. A great display specimen from this world famous Fluorite district. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#7655). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
