Item Description

A predominant, splendent, silvery, metallic cuboctahedron of Galena measuring 5.7 cm across is associated with smaller Galena crystals of equal quality which are aesthetically sitting upon black Sphalerite matrix. The reverse side of the piece reveals small sparkling white Calcite crystals. A light dusting of Pyrite or Chalcopyrite can be seen on the Galena crystals. The main Galena has only a few tiny bruises, but the superb form, luster and stepped / "hoppered" appearance more than make up for it. Generally, the Galenas from Madan are "lumps" for lack of a better word, but THIS is one so darned showy and eye-catching! The piece sits beautifully without the aid of a base or clay. The piece was terribly difficult to photograph, and trust me, it looks better in person. The luster is so bright on the Galena crystals that we had to use a muted light source in order to shoot them. Great over quality and excellent condition. Valued at $1500.
