Item Description

Some of the finest quality and diverse Quartz specimens in the world come from the Goboboseb Mountain in Namibia. Truly most of these specimens are labeled as Brandberg, but the actual pieces from from the mountain which is about 8 miles away from there. This specimen is a very good quality Quartz with colorless areas along with purple Amethyst and very slightly smoky Quartz zones inside of a lovely doubly-terminated crystal. The piece has great luster and superb internal clarity to boot, and looks better in person, it was somewhat difficult to photograph. Nearly perfect on the display side (I can see a couple tiny nicks), and I would almost call it a complete "floater", but it's not fully crystallized all the way around. The most interesting aspect of the piece is that is contains a small moving water bubble! We took a video to show the bubble moving inside the crystal ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKanNJ0bycQ ). Retail value is $850. From the collection of the long time, beloved, well-known French field collector, Paul Zerfass (Collection #337). Zerfass built this worldwide collection over nearly 50 years, many of which were personally collected. A biography featuring specimens from his collection (along with his face on the cover) is in the May - June 2017 issue of French mineral magazine, Le Regne Mineral. We have a .pdf copy of the article for anybody interested in reading it (though it's mostly in French). Just drop us a line and know that you'd like to have a copy.
