Item Description

A fine and thick hematite crystal from Brumado. Typcially Hematite crystals are thin, tabular blades and not anywhere nearly as hearty as this crystal. It shows wonderful hexagonal form with beautifully bright, metallic, gun-metal luster and for a final touch. Notably distinct striation lines can be seen on both sides of the crystal and it really stands out as a good quality example of this now hard to find material. There is a separation mark on the front of the crystal where another Hematite once grew, but it's still in excellent condition overall. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#12613). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017). Valued at $950.
