Item Description

An excellent and rarely seen Quartz specimen from the Portland Mine in the San Juan Mountains of southwestern Colorado. The piece features sharp, lustrous, translucent, colorless Quartz crystals which have notable striations along the triangular faces of the pyramidal terminations. The largest Quartz measures 1.7 cm. A classic specimen from this relatively obscure mine near Ouray, which was best known to collectors for the amazing green Sphalerites it produced. Most of the crystals are damage free, though a handful of them are contacted. The sheer number of crystals combined with the fact it has good aesthetics make it a very desirable display piece from this lesser known locality above Ouray.
