Item Description

A notably sharp and well-formed, light golden-orange colored crystal of GEMMY Sylite free of matrix from this lesser-known Riedel Potash Works locality. The piece is crystallized all the way around, save a small spot on the bottom where it detached from the matrix. The piece shows slightly modified and slightly elongated cubic crystals, but the quality is EXCELLENT for the species as it's not only gemmy, but it's sharp and very attractive. If you like halides, this is a MUST-ADD to your collection. It looks better in person, trust me. Please note that because this a sensitive mineral in terms of moisture, and it could dissolve in a moist environment, so please protect it and keep it dry. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#9324). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017). Valued at $800 for quality, sharpness, gemminess and size.
