Item Description

The name "Herschelite" dates back to 1825 when Levy first described the material from Rupe di Aci Castello. Today is has been identified as Chabazite-(Na), so the name Hershcelite is no longer valid. This piece features translucent crystal clusters of white/colorless Chabazite-(Na) in basaltic rock from the historical locale. A patch of minor white Gonnardite(?) can be seen on the piece as well. The piece comes mounted in a plastic box with a label from Excalibur MIneral Co.
