Item Description

A classic and RARE cobaltoan calcite from this famous, extinct small Co-Ni mine. Vivid, multi-hued pink, translucent, lustrous, banded cobaltoan calcite has a RARE drusy rind of quartz, that includes VERY RARE fluorescent neon-green hyalite opal! The striking scalloping on the base of the piece adds even more pizzazz to this amazing combination rarity. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 1241 and acquired from Sol Shale sometime in the 1950s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). The best of this material is some of the finest color cobaltoan calcite in the world, though it is rarely available today.
